Mytronome — Privacy Policy

Mytronome (“the app,” “we,” “us”) is a metronome for web, desktop, and Android. In short: the app runs on your device, uses no analytics or advertising, and never sends your data to us — we operate no server that receives your personal information.

What the app does with data

The metronome runs entirely on your device — tempo, time signature, and sound are never transmitted.

Your presets (saved tempo/time-signature settings and any labels you add) are stored using the option you choose:

• On this device (default). Saved in your browser's or device's local storage. They stay on your device; we cannot see them.
• Google Drive (optional). If you connect Google Drive, presets are saved to a private, app-specific hidden folder (appDataFolder) inside your own Google Drive. The app talks directly to Google — there is no Mytronome server involved. We request only the drive.appdata permission, which grants access to that app-specific folder only; the app cannot see or modify any of your other Drive files. This data lives in your Google account, subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Google sign-in and access tokens

To read or write your Drive folder, the app gets an access token from Google after you sign in and grant permission.

• On Android and web, the token is used only for the current session and is not retained afterward (no long-lived refresh token is stored).
• On desktop, a refresh token is stored in your operating system's secure credential store (e.g., Windows Credential Manager) on your device, so you need not sign in every time.
• Tokens are used solely to access the app's own Drive folder and are never sent to us.

What we do not collect

No analytics, telemetry, tracking, or advertising. No account or profile is required. No access to your location, contacts, photos, microphone, or any files outside the app's own Drive folder. We do not sell or share your data — we do not receive it.

Third parties

The only third party is Google, and only if you choose Drive storage, to save presets in your own Drive. Your use of Google services is governed by Google's policies.

Data retention and deletion

• Local presets: delete them anytime in the app, or by clearing the app's/browser's data.
• Drive presets: delete them in the app, or revoke the app's access and remove its data at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Disconnecting Drive in the app stops further access.
• We hold none of your data on our servers, so there is nothing to request from us.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g., GDPR/CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data held about you. Since we hold none on our servers, you exercise these directly through your device (local data) or your Google Account (Drive data). Questions: contact@mytronome.dovall.ca.

Children

Mytronome is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.

Security

Local data is protected by your device; Drive data by Google and your Google Account; desktop credentials by your operating system's secure store. No storage is 100% secure, but because we do not collect your data, exposure through us is not a factor.

Changes

We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date above will change to reflect it.
